I'm seeing Janet on October 14th at Mandalay Bay in Vegas (which is pretty terrifying considering what just happened in my home city at that casino...) which marks the third time I'm seeing her live.

    Sounds Great!

May I ask what other Jan shows you caught and also do you live RIGHT inside the gross part of Vegas or will you be traveling there...I was at at two venues Mandalay Bay and another to catch MJs One show and The Beatles Love but a few weeks ago. I stayed off the street as I hate vegas with a total passion.

I was told over and over again to not be surprised that Jans mic would be off most of the show and that was just not true..Like I said above she was NOT gifted near the level of what was MJ when Live....And the fact she takes the crying bit so the fans go crazy was right out of MJs playbook...My husband joked at that time that is was part of "Joes Number One Ball" lol...I can totally do without MJ or Jan crying but for some reason the crowds either are so deluded they think her (and MJ when he was still with us) literally cried at the same time as if on cue at every single show lol...Not sure what is so great about watching a Jackson fake cry but to each their own I also thought it funny how I practically am called a fake fan for pointing out that MJ cried on cue for 123 shows then jumped up and with a huge smile and did rock with you....Jan was the same a big sob fest then RN or IF...whatever it was a fast bouncing song right after SMH...

Up here in Seattle her voice well was bad live and I know she has not been touring for years where that would make her voice less strong...She is just not that great of a powerful singer even on ballads when she sits on a stool.

She may mime the whole time in Vegas if her voice does not hold. I cannot say for sure of course...Pay attention to the 250 pound back dancer....The crowds LOVE her original and a kick ass dancer at that.

Have you seen the setlist yet sweet?

    Dani

PS. She dances hard but you can tell she is using economy of motion compared to something her backing dancers did not..Where as with MJ he always stood out far beyond anyone dancing with him...I know she is 50 and she still put on a great show...My husband commented that due to her surgery and such she still looked young and played a cutie little girl type which would not be possible for most to accomplish and I can see where Ding saw a different energy with her..She seems fun loving for sure and she engages the crowed A LOT more than her brother ever did...She kept saying she could not wait to see Issa and Randy since he is helping care for issa do not ask me why. ..Throwing out heart symbols much like an 18 year old pop star...I am just glad she stayed away from the discipline action meh never liked that TBH Too madonna like and that is not really how I like my Jacksons lol.

So have fun and please report back about what you thought..Maybe even on this thread

I've seen the setlist and it's unbelievable. Many songs she's never performed live and a couple others that haven't been played in ages, which is amazing. Just the opening alone has me going crazy lol. Yes I live in Vegas and I'm not very far from The Strip (about 10-15 minutes on a non-traffic occasion). And yes I love the dancer you're talking about. Her name is Allison and she's definitely kick-ass. It's nice to see Janet give a big girl some love. I saw Janet twice before, once when she opened the 2006 Billboard Music Awards and again on her 2008 Rock Witchu Tour (the tour she cancelled due to vertigo). So this is my first time seeing Janet in almost ten years. I'm definitely long overdue since I didn't get the opportunity to see her on UCAP or Unbreakable (but on Unbreakable she cancelled/postponed three times).

OH how do you know the big girls name?? See the crowd just cheered and cheered her MUCH more than the skinny dancers lol..

Also Jan looks like she lost about 80 pounds maybe even more since she had Issa..I mean AFTER she gave birth to him she still had a bunch of weight on,now she is cute and while NOT skinny she is toned and shapely she looked great. And not a day over 35

Do you mean the song The Knowledge? See I have never head that one lol..And I do not think it was the entire song. As far as the other songs even though I really do not listen to her much I knew every single one from the 80s and 90s so I just danced and jumped around the whole time, still cannot believe hubby who is a total marley and floyd fan would be screaming for Janet Jackson and dancing the entire show (believe me the man cannot dance at all but it was cute I guess)

Yuck all that traffic you must have to face daily and the heat ugh I bet it was hard to deal with that massacre..Such a damn shame. Evil really does exist sadly, and we will never get rid of all of it regardless how much we try.

10 years? You are only 21 so you saw her when 11? Wow. Did she sing at all live at those other shows? I do know she was well known to prerecord vocals like Madonna but I know there was no tricks to make you believe she was singing live when I saw her, the mic would kick on and her voice would crack and screech and her mic technique was non existent .Again though I believe as long as a singer tries that is all that matters....It is not like Steven Tyler or Jagger can really sing but they do and I love it.

You are so young you were not even around when Jan was HUGE in 80s to early 90s...I guess that is why I knew every word as I grew up with her and the Jackson/5 and MJ from OTW on.. I heard them all of them in the background daily thanks to my mothers love of them. And yes I am kinda old

It is great that younger people do not believe a 50 year old is "washed up" but are instead just totally jazzed to see them...

I hope you have fun and do report back as to how much you think she did live and overall how you would rate the show compared to when she was younger (if you can remember since it was so long ago)

Just saw Janet last night. She brought Mandalay Bay Events Center's roof down! She is an incredible performer and artist and full of class, dignity and humbleness. Last night proved yet again why I'm a Janet fan. I have no voice because I screamed so loud lol. It was also such a treat to hear her greatest gems live for the first time ever, like Twenty Foreplay,Where Are You Now,The Body That Loves You,etc. And of course that legendary mashup of That's The Way Love Goes/Rock The Boat (Aaliyah) was killer live.

Sounds like you had one hell of a time... Did you notice how much she sang live?

Yes I did. She sang a giant chunk of the show live. I could imagine probably If and Rhythm Nation as the only songs she lipped. Otherwise it was a full on live spectacle.
