Old thread but didn't MJ have lung problems or something? Would definitely have affected his ability to sing well for longer periods of time, especially whilst dancing.

Yes, functional and structural issues with his left lung, if I recall correctly. According to the expert in the autopsy (not the coroner) such individuals will have a range of health issues in life with a lung that's not functioning the way it should.

Michael also had bronchiolitis which is very rarely seen in non-smokers. But an empty cigarette packet and paper was found in his master bedroom at Carolwood. Frank Cascio talked about Michael smoking weed and Paris claimed Michael Jackson smoked in private. Evidence suggests he secretly smoked.

That's not going to be great for someone in his condition.
"Because we do not know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well. Yet everything happens a certain number of times, and a very small number, really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that is so deeply a part of your being that you can't even concieve of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more. Perhaps not even that. How many times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless." - Brandon Lee

Michael had a lot of rather strange substances around him - as I recall, traces of cocaine were found in his underwear (curiously) in the 2003 police raid.

As for the lungs, I've heard it proffered that lupus possibly shared some of the blame for his poor lung conditions.

Yeah, you'll be blown away by how bad it is.

Couldn't resist making that joke, XD. Anyway, I wouldn't mind a documentary on HIStory as far as acquiring more knowledge about the album's making goes.

The lung thing alone really makes me wonder how a) they missed it during his medical and b) how the heck he intended to pull off 50 nights of singing and dancing (or miming and dancing at least) in that condition. The coke in the drawers thing makes sense as I used to know a few down low fiends that did the same thing because it bought them psychological security, like carrying a white powdery comfort blanket they really enjoy smelling, and because when it was on them the chance of anyone else finding it and exposing them was next to nil.

It does seem that MJ was relying so heavily on various kinds of uppers and downers to medicate himself into certain states during the latter chunk of his life. In many aspects its a wonder he even got to 50.

The autopsy found no trace of lupus. At any rate, Klein testified under oath in the early 1990s that Michael had discoid lupus which affects the skin.

As far as I can tell, there's no medical evidence Michael had systemic lupus. That Dr Metzger specialised in systemic lupus does not necessarily suggest Michael had it. Metzger was treating Michael for things that was not his field of specialisation.

The medical was basically a quick checkup in which MJ was asked a few questions.

Oh. That'll do it. Good job MJ was so well regarded for his candor and transparency then.

^Guys, you don't know who the practitioner was and how she really had examined MJ.

I'm waiting for the fanboys using his smoking habit as a excuse for "his" Jason-esque voice on MICHAEL.
